In a time of great economic growth, our locally owned small businesses should not be struggling to stay in business. We’ve seen in a few short years a significant number of businesses close, at least in part due to property taxes increasing, and residents shopping at tax incentivized large businesses. While I support bringing in the corporate jobs and believe they can be a great benefit to the city, I also know that my background in doing contract negotiations will be vital in helping protect our small businesses as well.
We can protect our small businesses by including a clause to protect against property taxes when large business structures are implemented, as well as add incentives to shop with tier 2 services with our Frisco small businesses. Properly negotiating contracts will give a double benefit to Frisco and our residents.
Additionally, we can use Transparency to ensure our projects are delivering on their promises.
